Forest in Black is a series of images taken in the northeast of the island of La Palma, in the Canary Islands, Spain. Specifically in the municipality of Barlovento, where Laurisilva forests abound. The canarian laurisilva forest is a type of humid subtropical forest present in some of the Canary Islands. It is closely related to other common forest formations in the rest of the biogeographic space called Macoronesia, such as the Laurisilva of Madeira { Portugal }. It is made up of arboreal species of the Lauraceae family, which together with Fayal-Brezal make up the so-called monteverde { green mount }. It has deep soils and is characteristic of the midlands { between 600 and 1500 m of altitude } to windward { oriented to the north } influenced by the mists of the trade winds, devoid of frost, with precipitations of 500 to 1100 mm and an annual average temperature of between 15 and 19 degrees Celsius.
